Barangay exec tough on law offenders shot dead in Pagadian
COTABATO CITY — A barangay councilor known for his hardline stance against law offenders was shot dead in a gun attack on Wednesday morning, February 5, in a busy area of Pagadian City.
Francisco Maca Jr., a kagawad from Barangay Poblacion in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur, was gunned down near the Saint Columban College campus in Pagadian City, where he was killed instantly
Pagadian City is the provincial capital of Zamboanga del Sur.
Col. Restituto Pangusban, director of the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office, told reporters at noontime Wednesday that personnel of the Pagadian City Police Office and local officials are currently trying to locate the killers of Maca, who had escaped amid the commotion triggered by the gunshots that reverberated through the scene.
Local officials had told reporters that Maca was a staunch supporter of the police’s law-enforcement activities in Kumalarang and was tough in enforcing municipal ordinances protecting residents from crimes.
