Colonel's body found inside Camp Aguinaldo

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed the discovery of the body of a military lawyer inside his quarters in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City over the weekend.

AFP spokesman Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said the body of Col. Rolando Escalona Jr. of the Judge Advocate General's Service was found at his quarters «in the early hours of November 22.»

«The AFP, in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,» Padilla said.

It was not stated if Escalona took his own life or was killed, she added.

«We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Col. Escalona during this difficult time. The AFP is committed to ensuring a complete and impartial investigation to shed light on this matter,» the AFP said.
