DOTr announces partial closure of Mindanao Ave.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced the partial closure of Mindanao Avenue for the construction of the subway going to Tandang Sora starting midnight of Sunday, Jan. 12, to give way for the construction of the Metro Manila Subway Project Phase 1.
The Tandang Sora Station Box will be constructed beneath Mindanao Avenue. To be able to do so, the Department of Public Works and Highways needs to divert traffic in both south and northbound directions; the road closure will last until 2028, the DOTr said.
The Tandang Sora Station is the third subway station that will be done in the northern portion of Metro Manila, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Romando Artes said.
«May ginawa silang kalsada na maaring daanan. May pagsisikip sa trapiko pero kapag tapos na ito ginhawa sa motorista ang dala nito (There is an alternate route that is being constructed. Traffic flow will get heavy, but once the project is done, motorists will enjoy a smooth traffic flow),» Artes said.
«Hindi siguro bibigat as in mabigat. Parang iikot ka lang kaunti na-extend lang biyahe mo (Actually, traffic will not be as heavy as feared, but would only take a longer route),» he added.
Presently, the construction is being done at the North Avenue and Quirino Highway Substation.
A road diversion is being mapped out by the MMDA as well as a traffic rerouting to help ease possible traffic.
