Guard killed for coming late to work
MANILA, Philippines — A security guard was shot dead by his colleague for coming late to work in Antipolo City, Rizal on Monday.
Jeremy Matugina died at the scene of the shooting that occurred at their workplace located along J. P. Rizal street in Barangay Dela Paz at past 8 a.m.
The suspect, identified only as alias Al, was arrested shortly after the incident.
Investigation showed the suspect was furious because his tour of duty ended at 7 a.m. and he wanted to go home early.
Probers said Matugina, who was supposed to relieve the suspect, arrived at 7:30 a.m.
A spat ensued between the two, prompting the suspect to drew his gun and shot the victim thrice in front of their fellow guards.
The suspect surrendered to his co-workers, who turned him over to the Antipolo police. He said he and the victim had an existing feud.
The suspect said the victim had treatened him and his family.
