House okays anti-POGO bill on 2nd reading
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has approved on second reading House Bill 10987 that bans offshore gaming operations in the country.
The measure was passed via voice vote during a plenary session on Monday afternoon.
Under the bill, those found to have violated the ban shall be punished with imprisonment of four years to six years and a fine of at least P100,000 but not more than P500,000 for the first offense; imprisonment lasting six years to eight years and fine of at least P500,000 but not more than P1 million, for the second offense; imprisonment lasting eight years to 10 years and a fine of at least P5 million but not more than P10 million, for the third and succeeding offenses.
In his 2024 State of the Nation Address last year, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. banned Philippine offshore gaming operators of POGOs.
