Marcos confident administration senatorial bets to sweep 2025 polls
MANILA, Philippines — A week before the start of the campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his confidence over the chances of the administration-backed candidates of winning all 12 senatorial seats in the upcoming polls.
In his speech during the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) Leaders' Convergence Summit in Manila on Friday, Marcos said his own political party has the «best candidates» and the «strongest party» in the upcoming midterm elections.
«What we want to be the result — of course, we always think it should be first, in the Senate 12-0, that's what we're after,» the President said.
«We have gathered, I believe, the best people and the most effective public servants in the Philippines under our umbrella in the PFP and the whole alliance,» he added.
Marcos, also national chairman of the PFP, assured the administration's candidates for national and local positions that the party would do everything to help them secure their victory in the midterm polls.
«I think we have chosen the brilliant ones, the best, and the strongest in the election and the public service. That is how high the quality of PFP members and candidates is… As long as we in the PFP leadership say no, none of our candidates will lose because they are the best,» he said.
The President also said that they intended to add more people to the party to help the administration develop and implement their plans for the country.

At least three of the PFP's senatorial candidates graced the summit, including Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, former Interior secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., and former senator Manny Pacquiao.
Marcos also convened all its 1,300 party members, including incumbent and aspiring government officials from Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and other key regions to engage in meaningful discussions.
He said the convergence summit was held to help PFP members solidify their plans for the future.
