NBTC condemns ‘basket-brawl’

MANILA, Philippines — The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) called on its participating leagues and schools to champion sportsmanship following a full skirmish during a qualifying game for its National Finals in March.

“The NBTC does not condone violence in any shape or form,” said the NBTC in a statement yesterday after a brawl between La Salle-Zobel and Arandia College in Las Piñas last Monday went viral on social media.

La Salle-Zobel was ahead 89-78 in the waning seconds when its ace player Kieffer Alas was whistled for an unsportsmanlike foul that ignited a free-for-all between the two sides, including non-players.
