Recipe: Healthy Asian noodle dish
MANILA, Philippines — All Asian countries have their own distinct noodle dishes, and it is not just one but quite a number of variants per country.
Some are dry noodles with just a little bit of sauce, often stir-fried; others are noodle soups, a comfort dish. Noodle dishes are usually healthy because they are a good balance of carbohydrates (noodles), protein (meat, poultry, or seafood), and vegetables.
So, when Chef Rosebud Benitez Velasco planned her menu for her Healthy Cooking with Tefal Cookware demo held at the SM Makati Concourse, she included Asian Noodles, which she cooked using Tefal Titanium Expertise.
Ingredients:
250 grams spaghetti
1 tbsp. olive oil
200 grams medium shrimps, peeled and deveined
1 pc. red bell pepper, sliced thinly
1 pc. carrot, grated
Cilantro leaves
For the sauce:
1/3 cup Lee Kum Kee Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce
10 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsps. brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Chili Paste
1 tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce
1 tbsp. freshly grated ginger
1 tbsp. Lee Kum Kee Sesame Oil
Procedure:
1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, chili paste, oyster sauce, ginger and sesame oil. Set aside
2. In a Tefal Large Saucepan with boiling salted water, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain well.
3. Heat olive oil in a Tefal Expertise Wok Pan over medium high heat. Add shrimps and 2 tbsps. soy sauce mixture. Stir occasionally for about 2 to 3 minutes until the shrimps turn pink. Set aside.
4. Stir in the vegetables. Cook while stirring frequently until tender for about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in cooked spaghetti, shrimps, and remaining soy sauce mixture until well combined for about 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately.
