WATCH: Gordon Ramsay remarks about Filipino drinkers
MANILA, Philippines — Gordon Ramsay drew strong reactions when he uttered a casual remark about the drinking habits of Filipinos during his visit in the country last month.
The celebrated British chef was in town for a meet-and-greet with a show featuring culinary personalities, such as chef-actress Judy Ann Santos and food content creators Abi Marquez and Ninong Ry.
The event was hosted by seasoned host Issa Litton at Newport World Resorts, where Gordon’s first-ever bar-and-grill concept is located.
“I don’t think anyone in Manila drinks,” Gordon remarked while being interviewed by Issa.
Issa and the crowd all voiced their disagreement of the British chef’s remark.
Gordon immediately clarified, “Before lunch.”
His meet-and-greet saw him collaborate with the said culinary personalities, and news about his brand’s expansion in the country, including an opening of the much-awaited first Hell’s Kitchen in the Philippines. — Video by Chyna Merin
