Hezbollah, a terrorist group based in Lebanon but funded by the Iranian government, dipped its finger in the Israel-Hamas war, a war it is not a part of. As a result, a full-scale war looms between Israel and Hezbollah. This looming war can potentially cause widespread destabilization in the Gulf.

The Spanish golden visa
MADRID – During the meeting of the Council of Ministers last month, the ministers reached a consensus to end the practice of granting golden visas to people who purchase properties worth 500,000 euros or more. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez justified the decision by stating that the practice has caused property prices to rise to a point that it is no longer affordable for the common Spaniard.
Education in Les Roches and flying Boeing
I recently met with Mano Soler, a family friend from Malaga, Spain. Mano visited Manila to recruit qualified students to the famed Les Roches International School of Hotel Management where he is director. Les Roches is originally based in Switzerland but has a campus in Marbella, Spain. Mano heads the Marbella campus. Older Filipinos will recognize the school by its original name, École des Roches.

NAIA’s decrepit state and chaotic passenger experience has brought much shame to the country. It is a national embarrassment. Whether we like it or not, NAIA has become a metaphor for the country’s wild west ways. It is our primary gateway, after all. The national government has proven incapable of getting NAIA’s act together, not because they don’t want to but because our laws don’t give them the flexibility to do so.
Japan steps up in its global role
In the early 70s, US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger mistakenly believed that as China grew in wealth on the back of the free trade system, the communist nation would abandon its Maoist principles and embrace western values. Upon Kissinger’s advice, President Nixon ushered in China’s entry into the free trade system. Years later, President Clinton took it a step further by facilitating China’s membership in the World Trade Organization. China’s economic miracle followed.
