2 Chinese fugitives nabbed at NAIA

TWO Chinese fugitives were intercepted by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport before they could flee the country.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the two were intercepted and arrested in separate occasions last June 1 by immigration officers at the NAIA Terminal 1 after they attempted to leave the country.

First to be apprehended was Jun Zhanh, 36, who has a pending extortion case in China and a criminal case before a Philippine court. He was arrested while attempting to board a flight to Bangkok, passing himself off as a citizen of Myanmar.

Tansingco said Jun presented a Myanmar passport under the name Lu Kyin Yang.

“We received advanced information from the Chinese government that he is a fugitive in China and that he would be using that Myanmar passport to evade detection,” Tansingco added.

BI records showed Jun arrived in the country last April before the extortion case was filed by Chinese authorities.
