3 die in Rizal fire

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Three people died in a fire in Teresa, Rizal on Thursday afternoon.

Narciso Santos, 71, and his grandchildren – Skyler Bolante, 10, and Amber Santos, 7 – were trapped in their house in Barangay San Gabriel, according to Maj. Edzel Macasero, Teresa police chief.

Responding firefighters found the remains of the victims in a room at 12:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed the victims were asleep when the fire broke out at around 11:53 a.m.

The fire did not spread to other houses.

Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
