3 weather systems affect PH

MANILA, Philippines — AT least three weather systems – the easterlies, southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms – are affecting the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

Weather specialist Robert Badrina said the western section of Southern Luzon including Palawan will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon also known as habagat.

Meanwhile, the easterlies are affecting Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands where cloudy skies and scattered downpours and thunderstorms are likely, the Pagasa forecaster said.

«Although we are already in the rainy season, hot weather could still be experienced particularly at noontime until mid-afternoon in most areas in the country,» he said.

Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies while localized thunderstorms will affect the rest of the country within the next 24 hours.
