76,000 seniors in Parañaque receive Christmas cash gift
MANILA, Philippines — More than 76,000 senior citizens in Parañaque City have received early Christmas cash aid from the local government.
The beneficiaries aged 60 to 74 were given P500 each.
Senior citizens who are 75 to 85 years old received P1,000. Those aged 85 and above got P2,500.
Apart from the cash gift, the beneficiaries also received a Christmas gift bag containing a spaghetti pack, luncheon meat, corned beef, sausage, coffee, milk and a can of fruit cocktail.
Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez led the Christmas gift-giving distribution in Barangays Don Galo, La Huerta, San Antonio and Sto. Niño.
“This is our little gift to our senior citizens for the holiday season. May this give them a little joy,” Olivarez said in a Facebook post.
He also gave extra cash gifts to elderly whose birthdays are from July to December.
The financial assistance is an initiative of the city’s Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs, General Services Office, Special Services Office and Urban Mission Areas Development Office.
