Asian Terminals rakes in P3.2B in 9 months

ASIAN Terminals Inc. (ATI) achieved a net income of P3.2 billion at the end of September, driven by a robust trade flow in line with resilient economic growth.

ATI's P3.2 billion net income marks a 77.7 percent increase from the P1.8 billion recorded in September last year. Revenues for the nine months reached P11.4 billion, reflecting a 16.8 percent increase from the previous year's P9.8 billion, attributed to higher volumes.

ATI noted that revenues from international container operations in Manila South Harbor and Batangas Container Terminal increased by 12.7 percent and 56.0 percent, respectively. Revenues from non-container operations in Batangas slightly increased by 0.1 percent.

ATI collectively handled nearly 1.14 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containerized cargo from January to September, representing a 9.5 percent volume growth compared to the same period in 2022.

For its non-containerized operations, the modern Batangas passenger terminal continued to reach new milestones as the country's premier interisland travel hub. It accommodated nearly 2 million outbound passengers from January to September, marking a 17 percent increase from last year and bringing Batangas Port closer to its annual average foot traffic for outbound passengers before the pandemic.

Domestic vehicle traffic transiting Batangas Port also increased by almost 4 percent to more than 390,000 vehicles during the period, underscoring the importance of Batangas Port as transport and economic linkage in the Southern Tagalog nautical backbone.

Batangas Port is positioned to handle more passengers, vehicles and domestic trade with the completion of its port modernization project in the first quarter of 2024.

Upon completion, the terminal can handle over 6,000 outbound passengers anytime, making it the biggest, busiest and most modern passenger terminal in the Philippines.
