Bagong Pilipinas Seeds of Service Seminar-Workshop upgrades public service competencies of DAR Regional and Provincial Information Officers

Thirty (30) Regional and Provincial Information Officers of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) upgraded their public service competencies as they took part in the Bagong Pilipinas Seeds of Service Seminar Workshop that was spearheaded by the Office of the Undersecretary for Special Concerns and External Affairs and Communication Operations (OUSC-EACO), led by Undersecretary Atty. Marilyn B. Barua-Yap, in collaboration with the Government Affairs Advocacy Group of San Miguel Corporation, under Assistant Vice-President Atty. Cynthia M. De Castro and Ms. Pamela M. Dela Cruz, at the San Miguel Corporation Training Center in Tagaytay City last June 10 – 11.

The seminar workshop—the first of three sessions—brought together thirty (30) regional and provincial information officers from DAR offices nationwide. The seminar-workshop focused on the tenets of the Bagong Pilipinas advocacy of the Philippine government, emphasizing service excellence and citizen-centric communications.

This is a direct response to the directive issued by Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III's directive to ensure that DAR employees embody the principles of Bagong Pilipinas and bring the government closer to the people.

Participants engaged in group discussions and exercises to explore the ideals of a service excellence leader within the context of Bagong Pilipinas. These interactive sessions improved their understanding of their roles as information officers, highlighting the need to foster service excellence and citizen-centric communication with DAR’s primary stakeholders, the agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Resource speakers from the Winfield Institute for Career Advancement Inc.—Apple Diaz, Geline Sta. Maria, and Rory A. Sugay—provided valuable insights and expertise throughout the workshop. Their contributions were instrumental in guiding participants through the principles of effective communication and leadership in the context of public service.

Two more sessions are scheduled to ensure that all regional and provincial information officers across the country can partake in the capacity-building workshop.
