CAAP inks aviation accord with ICAO

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has signed an agreement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to establish a working relationship between the two organizations, facilitating the provision of ICAO products, management, and services to the Philippines.

CAAP director general Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo and ICAO secretary general Juan Carlos Salazar inked the Management Service Agreement (MSA) at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka Hotel, witnessed by Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives Leo Tito Ausan, Jr.

Under the agreement, the CAAP will receive ICAO’s assistance in areas such as aviation safety, capacity and efficiency, security, environmental protection, and economic development through its Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau.

The CAAP’s goal is to build technical capacity and develop the implementation capabilities of the Philippine aviation sector.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the agreement allows the Philippines to benefit from the products, resources, and services of the ICAO, which employs subject matter experts and fully trained instructors and practitioners.

“It will help the Philippines build the aviation professional pool, manage projects, and monitor financial resources. The signing of the agreement will ensure continued progress in the Philippine aviation sector for years to come,” he said.
