Chiz to lawmen: Redouble your efforts to locate Guo

SENATE President Francis “Chiz” Escudero yesterday called on law enforcement authorities to redouble their efforts to locate and arrest suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Escudero said the Senate, which had issued an arrest order against Guo after she failed to attend hearings on her alleged involvement in the operation of an offshore online gaming hub in Bamban, has no capability to locate the suspended local chief executive.

“Hindi trained ang Senado na manghuli, mag-imbestiga. Umaasa lang kami sa law enforcement agencies (The Senate is not trained to conduct arrest and investigation. We rely on law enforcement agencies),” Escudero said an interview with radio DZBB.

“Kaya hinihiling namin sa kanila na bigyang atensyon ito, dahil napapahiya hindi lang ang Senado kundi pati ang law enforcement agencies (That’s why we are asking them to give this proper attention, since it is not only the Senate that is getting brickbats but also the law enforcement agencies),” he added.

Escudero said Guo is making a mockery of the Senate’s processes by refusing to attend the inquiry.

“Paano gugulong ang sistema ng hustisya kung di mapatupad ang mga kautusan para mapaharap ang resource person? (How can the wheels of justice grind on if we cannot event locate the resource person?),” he said.

Aside from her supposed involvement in the POGO operation, Guo’s citizenship is also being questioned. The National Bureau of Investigation has exposed her as a Chinese masquerading as a Filipino.

Charges of human trafficking have also been filed against her before the Department of Justice while the Office of the Solicitor General had asked a Tarlac court to cancel her birth certificate as a prelude to the filing of a quo warranto petition against her.

Guo had denied involvement in the POGO operation and insisted she was a Filipino.
