Comelec, NBI unite vs cyber threat
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will work together to install safeguards against cyberthreats in next year's midterm elections, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Wednesday.
Garcia said that groups or individuals who try to influence the elections or question its integrity and credibility to confuse the public should be prosecuted.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the goal was to catch cybercriminals before they could do any damage.
«We would pound on cybercrime. We would be proactive,» Santiago said.
