Corporate Cup golf: BCM, Perfect Drive mount early leads

BAGUIO — Karl Flores scored 46 points while Gerry Aguado and Arnel Panganiban added 44 and 42 to lift BCM Balayan to a commanding lead in Group 4 after the first round of the 18th Corporate Cup held at the Camp John Hay Golf Club Tuesday.

With an aggregate score of 132, BCM Balayan is ahead by 13 points off MJJC-Caana, which got 46 from Butch Bakunawa, 38 from Joey Castro and 35 from Anthony Eugenio for 119.

The Perfect Drive PH, last year’s runner-up, stays in the hunt with 115 on Arbie Jacinto’s 50, Ramil Gutierrez’s 37 and 28 of either Ricky Alegre or Bong Fernando in the four-to-play, three-to-count format.

Meanwhile, Ariel Mula of Team Moto Seniors made the tournament’s first ace on the fourth hole using a TaylorMade 3-wood and Volvic S3 #1 ball. He stands to win a Toyota Raize.

In Seniors 4, A1-MGC leaned on the 48 of Ariel Javelosa, 38 of Doy Mercado and 37 of Edward Isidoro for 123 points. Pampanga Block Builders followed with 120 on Vergel Vicencio’s 44, Ariel Araja’s 42 and Bernabe Gatbunton’s 34.

Hotel Bahia is third with 112 in the tournament presented by The Manor and Forest Lodge at Camp John Hay, Le Chef and sponsored by Moto Industrial Traders, Grumpy Joe and Mount Banoy Security Agency.
