DAR Celebrates National ICT Month with Symposium on Digital Transformation

QUEZON CITY-June 28, 2024 – In celebration of National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) conducted a symposium emphasizing the importance of embracing digital transformation. This event is part of the nationwide celebration led by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) under the theme "Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas."

The DICT's commitment to fostering nation-building and communal progress through digital transformation remains steadfast. Resource Speaker Grace Amberong highlighted the DICT's role in harmonizing and coordinating all national ICT plans and initiatives.

"The DICT ensures knowledge, information, and resource-sharing, database-building, and agency networking linkages among government agencies, consistent with E-Government objectives in particular, and national objectives in general," Amberong stated.

Artemio Dumaoang, DAR Director for Management Information Systems Service (MISS), expressed DAR's alignment with DICT's vision.

"The DICT is dedicated to fostering nation-building and communal progress through digital transformation. The DAR acknowledges this commitment towards social progress and thus we have integrated the same values and goals into our advocacy in implementing land reform and serving our agrarian reform beneficiaries," Dumaoang said.

Under the guidance of the DICT, the DAR aims to expedite land reform processes and the resolution of agrarian reform legal cases. Furthermore, the DAR is committed to advancing technology by digitalizing public services for agrarian reform beneficiaries, ensuring a more efficient and effective service delivery.

Engr. Marc Voltaire Padilla discussed the importance of cybersecurity in government ICTs: “Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks.
