DMW warns public anew against illegal online recruiters

THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday warned the public anew against illegal recruiters lurking online.

In a social media post, the DMW said it is imperative for aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to exercise caution when encountering job offers abroad posted online.

“Let us be careful against illegal recruiters present on social media and other online platforms,” said the DMW.

“Be wise and let us not fall for these illegal recruiters,” it added.

If they encounter such job offers, the agency urged the public to report them to the DMW Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB) via telephone no ((02) 87210619); email ([email protected]); and FB Messenger (DMW Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons Program).

“For any suspicious illegal recruitment activities or fake overseas job posting on social media, contact the DMW,” said the department.

The DMW said it is better to always check and verify if they are dealing with licensed recruitment agencies via https://dmw.gov.ph/licensed-recruitment-agencies; and approved job orders via https://dmw.gov.ph/approved-job-orders.

“Make it a habit to check with the DMW if they are licensed agencies and verified job offers,” said the DMW.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac earlier said they are stepping up their campaign against illegal recruitment.

Proof of this, Cacdac said, was the shutting down of 14 establishments engaged in illegal recruitment activities since January 2024.
