DOLE issues pay rules on Eid’l Adha holiday

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday reminded employers of the pay rules as the country observes the Feast of Sacrifice (Eid’l Adha), which has been declared a regular holiday today, Monday.

In its Labor Advisory No. 08-2024, the DOLE said that if an employee does not report for work, the employer shall pay 100 percent of the employee’s wage for the day.

For work done during the regular holiday, the labor department said the employer shall pay a total of 200 percent of the employee’s wage for the first eight hours of work and an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate for overtime work.

For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee’s rest day, the DOLE said the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the basic wage of 200 percent and an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate for overtime work.

According to Proclamation No. 579, June 17 has been declared as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha.
