FDA warns public vs 3 unauthorized soap products

THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public against three soap products available in the market that have no authorization to be sold.

In separate advisories, the FDA advised the public to avoid purchasing “Fairy Skin Milky Bar Soap,” “Rosmar Glutapeeling Soap,” and “Rosmar Kagayaku Bubble Gum Soap.”

“The abovementioned product(s) (were) verified by FDA through postmarketing surveillance and show no valid Certificate(s) of Product Notification (CPN),” said the FDA.

“In light of the foregoing, the public is advised not to purchase the aforementioned violative cosmetic product(s),” it added.

The agency said it cannot assure the quality and safety of the products and may pose health risks to consumers.

“Potential hazards may come from ingredients that are not allowed to be part of a cosmetic product or from the contamination of heavy metals,” it said.

“The use of substandard and possibly adulterated cosmetic products may result to adverse reactions, including skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock, and organ failure,” furthered the FDA.

It warned all concerned establishments not to distribute the three violative cosmetic products.

The FDA also directed its regional field offices and regulatory enforcement units, as well as law enforcement agencies and local government units, to ensure the products are not sold or made available in their areas of jurisdiction.
