FDA warns public vs fake Biogesic tablets
THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public over the presence of counterfeit Biogesic 500 mg tablets in local markets.
“All healthcare professionals and the general public are hereby warned as to the availability of this counterfeit drug product in the market,” the FDA said in its Advisory No. 2024-1013.
“FDA advises the public against the purchase and use of the counterfeit version of the said product,” it said.
According to the FDA, the lot number, capsule, knurling, and print appearance of the fake tablets are not comparable with the standard features of the registered product.
The agency stressed that the counterfeit products pose possible health hazards to consumers and warned all establishments and outlets against selling and/or dispensing them.
“Anyone found selling the said counterfeit drug product will be penalized,” it said.
The FDA also asked all local government units and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the said products are not sold or made available in their localities.
