P5.5-M swine facility to aid CamSur farmers’ cooperative

BULA, Camarines Sur –Farmer-members of the Lirag Agrarian Reform Farmers Beneficiaries Cooperative (LARFBCO) will soon reap the benefits of swine production as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) facilitated the turnover of a swine facility worth P5.5 million from the Department of Agriculture (DA).The LARBCO received a 2,000-square-meter swine facility with a tunnel ventilation system, biogas facility, caretaker shower room, and perimeter fence.“Aside from the modern swine facility, the cooperative also received 173 piglets to start its operation, with another 127 to follow in the weeks ahead,” said Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Gerry L. Matamorosa.Matamarosa said that before the turnover, the DAR coordinated with the DA to help the Bula farmers recover from their losses from the African swine fever (ASF) that largely affected their production.

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan — More than 400 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in this province are expected to boost their farming operations as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) provided their organizations with P6,742,000.00 worth of farm machines and tractors.Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III led the turnover of farm machines and tractors to uplift the lives of farmer members from the two (2) agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations in Palawan.The Bono-Bono Gintong Butil Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Bataraza agrarian reform community was provided with 1 unit harvester with trailer and 1 unit 4-wheel drive tractor with rotary tiller worth P 3,498,000.00. The Malalong-Binasbas Agriculture Cooperative received 1 unit hauling truck with a 6-wheeler drop side worth P 3,244,000.00.Estrella said the initiative is a testament to the DAR's commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of farmers and ensuring that the ARBs will have access to the resources for them to help contribute to the growth of the local economy.“With the farm machinery and equipment, these organizations can now provide services to their ARB members, adjoining ARB organizations, and other small farmers in the community,” Estrella said.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is set to distribute on Monday, April 8, 2024, a total of 4,724 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) comprising 2,550.3952 hectares of land to 2,797 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) of Negros Occidental.Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III is expected to distribute the land titles which are generated under the new lands and the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling or Project SPLIT to be held at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum And Cultural Center, Bago City, Negros Occidental.Estrella III vowed to support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to expedite the distribution of land ownership titles to farmer-beneficiaries of agrarian reform and provide support to help the ARBs improve their living conditions.“To ensure the ARBs’ success, over 59- million worth of support services will be distributed to nineteen (19) ARB organizations (ARBOs) in Negros Occidental which include farm-to-market road (FMR) projects, Tulay ng Pangulo Para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo (TPKP project) and farm machineries and equipment (FME),” Estrella said.Atty. Sheila B. Enciso, DAR Western Visayas Regional Director said the landholding includes 2,686 titles covering 1,181.8807 hectares, allocated to 1,562 ARBs for new lands. On the other hand, 2,038 titles for the Project SPLIT covering 1,368.7627 hectares, will be distributed to 1,235 ARBs.“The total landholding under the new lands comprises a total of 1,744 CLOAs covering 725.7328 hectares, to be distributed to 951 ARBs in Negros Occidental 1, and in Negros Occidental 2, a total of 942 CLOAs covering 455.8997 hectares, will be distributed to 611 ARBs. Under the Project SPLIT, a total of 1,084 CLOAs covering 700.6009 hectares, will be distributed to 600 ARBs in Negros Occidental 1. In comparison, a total of 954 CLOAs covering 668.1618 hectares, will be distributed to 635 ARBs in Negros Occidental 2,” Enciso said.
