Go inaugurates Super Health Center in La Union

SAN FERNANDO, La Union, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go inaugurated a newly constructed Super Health Center in a hinterland community in this city on Tuesday.

Go said the Super Health Center in Barangay Sibuan-Otong, which was designed as a mini-hospital, would provide immediate medical assistance to people in remote areas.

“This center will help decongest hospitals in urban areas,” Go said.

He said the center, one of the six that he helped provide in La Union, would be managed by local health officials under the supervision of the Department of Health and the local government.

Go, chair of the Senate committe on health and demography, said that aside from Malasakit Centers, he thought of building super health centers to give the poor access to quality medical services.

He thanked Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, Rep. Paolo Ortega, Mayor Hermenegildo Gualberto, and former governor now provincial administrator Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III for helping the project come to fruition.

Go said the Super Health Center intends to boost access to healthcare in grassroots communities through early detection of diseases, medical consultations and primary care.

He stressed the importance of the facility in strengthening the healthcare system, noting it is integrated with municipal health offices, local government units and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.

“This center embodies our commitment to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all Filipinos, especially those living in remote areas,” Go said in a speech delivered during the event.a

Of the 700 Super Health Centers established nationwide, six are in La Union. These are located in Aringay, Naguilian, Pugo, Rosario, San Fernando and San Juan.
