Gov’t laying more robust solutions to attain PH development goals—NEDA – Presidential Communications Office

Groundwork is being laid for more substantial and long-term solutions to persistent economic challenges and ensure sustainable growth and development for the country, an official of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) assured on Tuesday.

In a press briefing in Malacañang, NEDA Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon said that such efforts and accomplishment will be evaluated and reported under this year’s Philippine Development Report.

“For 2023, actually NEDA is preparing what we call the Philippine Development Report which essentially assesses iyong naging accomplishments natin in terms of the outcomes ‘no versus the targets in the PDP,” she said.

According to Edillon, the report is yet to be finished and released to the public.

The NEDA will also be assessing the outcomes of short-term measures to determine whether the government has made significant strides in addressing immediate concerns faced by the country.

“Mayroon talaga tayong mga short-term interventions na parang mabilisang measures…Pero at the same time, we are actually laying the groundwork for the more robust solutions,” she said.

Edillon further discussed the report will also highlight macroeconomic indicators, where she said that the country is “doing okay” and on track.

“So, kung ang titingnan namin is iyong pag-laying down the groundwork, we have actually been doing that – marami na iyong nagawa doon,” Edillon said.

“So, in terms of those things and then also in terms of … (the) macroeconomic indicators natin, then we’re doing okay; iyong ating mga fiscal targets, deficit and debt targets natin, debt-to-GDP ratio nati…infrastructure to GDP ratios, we are actually on track,” she added. PND
