KMU to back all Makabayan Senate bets

NINE months ahead of the May 2025 national and local elections, the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) has declared its full support to the senatorial slate of the Makabayan coalition.

In a statement, KMU chairman Elmer Labog said the labor sector is united in backing the candidates of the different party-list organizations and sectoral groups who will run for senator in next year’s polls.

“Makabayan senatorial bets have proven their loyalty to the Filipino people. They have no records of corruption. They have no fear as they were forged by the strikes, demolition, and violent dispersal of rallies,” said Labog.

“Thus, they can fully rely on the solid support of the workers sector,” he said.

The labor leader said the Makabayan coalition has also been a consistent advocate of workers in the House of Representatives in pushing for issues such as wage increase, ending contractualization, and recognizing the right to forming unions.

“This is an assurance that they will also bring the same advocacy for workers interest in the Senate,” said Labog.
