Luzon, Visayas HEIs ink academic alliance

THE Philippine Normal University North Luzon (PNU-NL) in Alicia town in Isabela has forged ties with West Visayas State University Calinog Campus (WVSU-CC) in Iloilo province to foster collaboration in the realms of instruction, research, extension and production.

Dr. Leticia Aquino, PNU-NL executive director and provost, said this was a momentous stride toward collaboration during the WVSU-CC benchmarking and scanning visit to PNU-NL on Oct. 2 and 3, 2023.

She said that with topics ranging from instructional methodologies to research frameworks, extension programs and efficient production processes, representatives from both institutions engaged in insightful discussions and exchanges.

Aquino said the discussions and exchanges aimed at identifying common objectives and areas of cooperation.

«We expect that the collaboration will bring about a wave of innovation and knowledge exchange, benefiting students, faculty and the communities we serve,» Aquino said.

Dr. Madonna Gonzales, PNU-NL dean for Academics and Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd), presented the curriculum program on Indigenous Peoples Teacher Education (IPTEd), while Dr. Jandy Danzalan, PNU-NL director for Center of IPEd, shared experiences of students in their immersion courses in the undergraduate certificate for IPTEd.

WVSU-CC campus administrator Dr. Rosaria Clarabel Contreras said their visit to PNU-NL was to explore potential areas of partnership and mutual growth in the academic arena.

«I believe that the partnership holds great promise in nurturing a conducive environment for growth and development, not only within our respective campuses but also in the larger educational landscape of the Philippines,» Contreras said.
