Maasim farmers receive farm equipment

Maasim, Sarangani – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned here over P311,000 worth of farm machinery and equipment to Lumasal Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (LARBO) to boost their agricultural production.

The farm machinery and equipment, composed of a coconut dehusking machine, a battery-operated knapsack sprayer, and a platform weighing scale, is implemented under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project’s (CRFPSP) Sustainable Livelihood Support Component.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I and CRFPSP Supervisor Marhlie Pasal said this project aims to mechanize LARBO’s post-harvest coconut operations, boosting their livelihood activities that would help generate more income for the recipient farmers.

“To achieve this goal, please keep in mind the importance of utilizing the equipment effectively. Congratulations to all of you and I hope that you will expand the membership of your organization by inviting more farmers to benefit from this project,” Pasal said.

In her acceptance speech, LARBO President Annabelle Pelones expressed deep gratitude to DAR Sarangani, assuring that the new equipment will help sustain the organization’s agricultural endeavors.

“We are grateful for this farm equipment because it will be a big help in improving our coconut operations,” she said.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Nasser Mangindra concluded the ceremony by acknowledging the successful collaboration of different stakeholders and commending the strong partnership between DAR and the local government unit of Maasim in implementing various projects.

The CRFPSP aims to enhance and sustain the agricultural productivity of agrarian reform communities as an adaptation measure towards climate change resiliency.
