Makati swelters with 43.5 degrees heat index
MANILA, Philippines — The heat index in Makati yesterday reached a “dangerous” level of 43.5 degrees Celsius, according to the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
In an advisory, the city’s DRRMO said the heat index was recorded at around 11:17 a.m.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, a heat index of up to 51 degrees Celsius falls into the “danger” category.
The state weather bureau noted that heat cramps, exhaustion and heat stroke are likely under this category.
