Marcos names new envoys

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has appointed new envoys, including the wife of Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro.

Monica Louise Prieto-Teodoro has been reappointed as special envoy to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Presidential Communications Office announced on its Facebook page on Tuesday night.

Marcos first appointed Teodoro to the post in August last year.

Teodoro is a child rights advocate and had served as representative of the first district of Tarlac.

UNICEF is the world’s leading humanitarian agency for children, aimed at protecting the rights of children, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Teodoro held the same position under the Duterte administration from 2017 to 2018.

Meanwhile, Marcos named Giovanni Palec as non-resident ambassador to North Macedonia, in addition to being ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Hellenic Republic, with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Cyprus.

Noel Eugene Eusebio Servigon was appointed as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Romania.

Also appointed are Honee Fritz Abangan-Diel and Gallo Macasinag as fire chief superintendent.

Marcos also named new members of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority board of directors with Raul Marcelo representing business and investment sector and Kenneth Lemuel Rementilla, Honorio Allado III and Maria Cecilia Bitare representing the private sector.
