New PNP community relations chief named

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has designated Special Action Force (SAF) director Maj. Gen. Bernard Banac as the new PNP community relations head.

Banac replaced Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo as chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations.

Okubo now heads the Civil Security Group.

Replacing Banac as SAF chief is Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Mark Pespes.

Banac served as the PNP’s chief information officer and spokesman.

Also getting a new post in the PNP reshuffle is Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes, who was appointed head of the police Retirement and Benefits Administration Service (PRBS).

Col. Leon Victor Rosete was transferred from the PRBS to the National Capital Region Police Office.
