‘No plate, no travel’ rule for Quezon City tricycles starts today

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will begin today the implementation of the “no plate, no travel” policy for tricycles in Quezon City.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II has signed a memorandum implementing Section 18 of Republic Act 4136 on the use of license plates.

“In compliance with RA 4136 and in coordination with the local government, all tricycle drivers and operators in Quezon City are hereby informed of the directive to ensure adherence to road safety regulations,” the memorandum read.

Mendoza said all tricycles must display valid and authorized license plates at all times while traversing Quezon City roads.

He said the license plates should be clearly visible and properly attached to the tricycles.

“Any tricycle found operating without a valid license plate would be apprehended. Fines and penalties in accordance with existing laws and regulations would be imposed on the driver and operator,” Mendoza said.
