No water at NAIA 1 toilets

MANILA, Philippines —   After resolving the baggage handling system  glitch, lavatories at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 suffered from a damaged main water pipe on Wednesday night.

Building attendants lined up with buckets and waited for water tankers to arrive.

The water pipe sustained a one-meter crack following the resumption of water service.

“Our teams are working to replace the damaged pipe as quickly as possible. In the meantime, water tankers are providing water for restrooms and other essential areas. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the public’s patience during this time,” the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said.

Passengers were advised to conserve water.

On Wednesday, the baggage handling system at the NAIA Terminal 3 was restored after malfunctioning and causing delays to travelers.

Meanwhile, a white gold Paraiba ring with diamonds left behind on a sink by a departing passenger at the NAIA Terminal 1 has been returned to the owner by the airport police.

On her way to Narita, Japan, Shina Sevilla Aquino sought help after leaving behind her P1.3-million ring on Wednesday.

A passenger bound for Kuala Lumpur got hold of the ring and was confronted by the airport police and a toilet cleaner.

The ring was returned to Aquino.
