NorthPort wants Bolick back

MANILA, Philippines — NorthPort is pursuing its former star player Robert Bolick upon his return to the country after a brief stint in Japan.

“We are currently actively in talks with Bolick’s camp and his agent to explore the possibility of returning to our team and sa PBA,” Batang Pier coach Bonnie Tan said during yesterday’s PBA Media Day.

Bolick’s comeback became a possibility after he and Japan B. League Division 2 club Fukushima Firebonds mutually parted ways. The former San Beda standout asked for his release after playing only one game to attend to the delicate pregnancy of his wife.

The Batang Pier lost Bolick to Fukushima in May after a five-year partnership that started in 2019.

Tan said he and Bolick had kept their lines open even while he was in Japan. And when he learned of Bolick’s interest to return to the Philippines for personal reasons, NorthPort made an initiative to win the ace guard back.

“We’ll see,” the NorthPort mentor said when asked what percentage he sees Bolick reuniting with the Batang Pier.
