OFWs warned vs bogus emergency loan offers

THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) yesterday warned overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) against bogus loan offers on social media.

In a social media post, OWWA said OFWs must avoid dealing with individuals offering bogus emergency loans online.

“If you get offers from certain accounts regarding loan lending or emergency loans, don’t believe easily,” said OWWA.

“Such accounts are being used to offer fake emergency loans to OFWs that will lead to massive inconvenience,” it added.

The agency said it is issuing the warning after another Facebook account offering bogus emergency loans – the Facebook account of one “Owwa Rochelle May” who claims to offer emergency loans to OFWs.
