Ombudsman honors student leaders for promoting integrity

THE Office of the Ombudsman has recognized seven student organizations in various schools in Metro Manila for initiatives in corruption prevention, promoting integrity, and social responsibility.

Hailed as Campus Integrity Crusaders (CIC) were the Campus Integrity Vanguard of Pinagbuhatan High School (Pasig City), Caybiga Sulong Integridad of Caybiga High School (Caloocan City), Coalesce Movement For Righteousness of Las Piñas National High School (Las Piñas City), Juan Sumulong High School Guardians of Virtue of Juan Sumulong High School (Quezon City), Kasilag Integrity Crusaders of Lucrecia R. Kasilag Senior High School (Quezon City), New Villager Integrity Crusaders of Bagong Barrio National High School (Caloocan City), and Tondonian’s Campus Integrity Crusaders of Tondo High School (City of Manila).

The seven youth groups were awarded plaques of recognition for being selected among outstanding school organizations in implementing activities promoting integrity, social responsibility and gender and development during the Campus Integrity Crusaders Awards Ceremony last August 30.

On hand to honor the youth leaders were Deputy Ombudsman Jose Balmeo, Jr., Assistant Ombudsman Janina Hidalgo, and Director Rhodora Fenix-Galicia.

The ceremony was witnessed by the groups’ respective advisers, principals and other school officials, with Deped NCR Director Jocelyn DR Andaya delivering the inspirational message during the ceremony.

Campus Integrity Crusaders are non-partisan school-based youth organizations recognized by a secondary or tertiary educational institution and duly accredited by the Office of the Ombudsman.

Launched during the time of former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, the CIC is an initiative to cultivate the values of uprightness, responsibility, honesty, respect for authority, and love of country among students in secondary or tertiary educational institutions.

Any non-partisan and school-based student organization may apply for accreditation as a CIC with the Ombudsman subject to evaluation and approval by the Public Assistance and Corruption Prevention Office (PACPO).

Applications for accreditation may be filed with the Central Office in Quezon
