Pacquiao, Times Education seal partnership

MANILA, Philippines – A groundbreaking partnership between boxing icong Manny Pacquiao and Times Education Holdings for several projects in the Philippines is poised to make the Australia-based firm a powerhouse institution for education.

The partnership aims to showcase upcoming projects and also draw potential investors to help Times Education in its mission to provide education and employment, the latter especially in the rising aged care industry in Australia.

During a launch event last Friday at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City, Pacquiao said he is "very happy to be a part of this important milestone."

"I think it is important for Filipinos to study in education and in taking care of elderly individuals," Pacquiao said.

The former senator added that his investment in Times Education will not only result in delivering excellent financial returns to investors but will also give opportunities for the youth to pursue careers in  elderly care.

"It warms my heart to share that this company is already teaching Filipino students to become the next leaders in aged care roles. Their commitment to our kababayans is why I have chosen to affiliate myself with Times Education," the future hall of famer said.

Charles Shiao, chief executive officer of Times Education, added that they have come to the Philippines to promote an education program that is on par with Australian standards.

He cited the possibility of Filipino students getting the chance to study in Australia, especially with Times Education's expansion plans coming at a better time.

"We have more established colleges that offer comprehensive courses in aged care. This is a rare chance to get involved in an industry that is not just profitable, but also noble in its mission," Shiao said.
Mel Congerton, deputy mayor of the City of Swan in Western Australia and chairman of the IIBT Governance board, said that Australia is facing "serious trouble" in delivering acceptable Residential Aged Care for elderly citizens, especially with the lack of trained staff in these facilities.
