PAL warns public anew over fake FB accounts

MANILA, Philippines: Philippine Airlines (PAL) cautioned the public regarding fraudulent Facebook accounts that announce job openings at the airline company.

These accounts, however, require payment in return for helping in the application procedures, the airline said.

The PAL management said it does not condone this «illegal act» and «have taken steps to take down these accounts.»

At present, META Philippines (formerly Facebook Philippines) has removed all fake accounts following the airline's report.

PAL stressed that «as a reminder and for your protection, Philippine Airlines issues official announcements using PAL website www.philippineairlines.com and the official PAL FB Page. PAL does not require any payment for application processing.»

The airline management has asked the public to report any suspicious social media account using the name of PAL. This can be done by contacting the PAL hotline at 028855-8888 or sending an email to [email protected].

In August last year, PAL alerted the public on the existence of bogus Facebook accounts bearing its name with hoax messages soliciting applications for non-existent positions in their company.

The fake FB account, «Phil Airlines,» sends messages to individuals inviting them to apply as «PAL Foundation ambassadress» with a request for a face-to-face meeting.
