Press Release - Batangas women's groups receive livelihood aid from Senators Alan Peter, Pia Cayetano

Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano extended meaningful and beneficial assistance for the livelihoods of women in Batangas City in time for Labor Day on May 1, 2024.

The sibling senators provided livelihood projects to the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) from Barangays Talahib Pandayan and Conde Labac in Batangas City in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment's Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

KALIPI is an organization that aims to empower women with community activities and livelihood programs. They are part of Senator Alan's "Presyo, Trabaho, Kita/Kaayusan" or "PTK," a program he launched in 2013 to uplift and extend support to the groups and communities under different sectors and livelihoods to attain sustainable growth.

With an additional boost from Senator Pia, they were provided their requested beauty salon packages and additional tools and equipment for event rental services.

Addressing the members of the groups, Marivel "Mabel" Santos, KALIPI - Batangas City PTK focal person and Executive Assistant to the Mayor, urged them to utilize the livelihood assistance well and expressed gratitude to the senators.

"Ngayon po ay araw nating mga manggagawa. Hindi po ito mangyayari kung wala ang suporta nina Senator Pia at Senator Alan Peter Cayetano kaya ang aming pagpapasalamat sa kanila dahil ang mga ito ay makakatugon sa mga pangangailangan ninyo. Sana po ang mga tulong na ito ay mapalago ninyo," she said.

Neri Asi, KALIPI president of Barangay Conde Labac, also thanked the senators for the additional equipment and tools for their event rental services.

"Salamat po sa ipinagkaloob niyo sa aming samahan at ibinigay ang aming pong mga nirequest na mga kagamitan. Lubos po ang aming pasasalamat dahil kami po ay napagkalooban ng ganitong pagkakakitaan," she said.

The PTK currently has more than 200 groups across the country, composed of women's groups, public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators, market vendors, farmers, and fisherfolk, among many others.

In collaboration with various government agencies and local government units, the sibling senators reach marginalized communities nationwide to provide essential aid to Filipinos
