Press Release - Cayetano to transport workers: Explore business opportunities through PTK program

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano encouraged the members of AirTODA Transport Service Cooperative (ATSC) in Puerto Princesa, Palawan to leverage the Presyo, Trabaho, Kita/Kaayusan (PTK) Program for business growth and partnership opportunities.

During his visit on September 7, 2024, Cayetano emphasized the potential of the PTK program to drive economic development within the local transport sector.

"Tinitingnan ko lang ano ang pwede nating itanim. I-explore natin kung ano ang kakayanin," he said.

"Kailangan mayroon tayong short term at long term solution. Walang mawawala sa inyo kung kayo ay mangangarap," he added.

The PTK program provides cash grants to associations or cooperatives, which in turn offer low-interest loans to their members. The goal is to uplift the lives of those involved in micro and small enterprises.

In his message, Cayetano encouraged the cooperative members to view the PTK grants as more than just immediate financial relief but as a stepping stone to broader business development.

"Napansin ninyo 'PTK', 'pitik'? Ganon rin po sa ating programa. Maliit lang ang negosyo niyo ngayon, pero kung walang tigil na kakapitik yan, lalaki din po ang puhunan, lalaki rin po ang negosyo niyo," he said.

During his discussion with members, the senator stressed the importance of effective enforcement and responsible management for the program's success.

He also suggested exploring alternatives, such as electric vans for tourists in the region to benefit the sector.

"Gumawa kayo ng enforcement mechanism. Isipin niyo baka may maka-joint venture kayo na cooperative rin, then ayusin natin," he said.

Cayetano also reaffirmed his commitment to unlocking further opportunities for the transport community in Puerto Princesa.

"So siguro ayun din ang magiging role ko sa inyo, maging susi para mabuksan ang mga [iba pang] programa [ng gobyerno]," he said.
