Mr. President, just a short manifestation. I wish to spread into the record my full support for our Filipino farmers. One of the bills I filed, Senate Bill No. 206, aims to provide direct financial assistance to them. Pero noong binasa at pinag-aralan ko po ang panukalang batas na ngayon ay ating tinatalakay, natuwa po ako, Mr. President. Sapagka't nakasaad na po sa Senate Bill No. 2779 ang parehong benepisyo na nais kong ibigay sa ating mga magsasaka.

Allow me to explain, Mr. President. Under the proposed measure, P8 billion pesos shall be allocated for direct financial assistance to our Filipino farmers. The amount is to be released to the DA-OSEC for direct cash distribution to farmers who are tilling 2 hectares and below. The farmers, who are listed in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), shall directly receive the cash assistance.

Mr. President, truly, achieving food security in the future is possible if, and when, we take care of our farmers, today. May I now humbly ask to be made co-author of this measure, with the consent of the sponsor.
