Sara has more security escorts than Marcos – Remulla

JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla yesterday said despite the withdrawal of 75 members of her security detail by the Philippine National Police, Vice President Sara Duterte still has 320 security personnel.

He said the Vice President has more security personnel than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

“She still has 320 security personnel despite the PNP pullout. That’s more than the President,” Remulla told reporters but declined to give numbers.

“We can’t discuss that. The President’s security is institutionalized by the Presidential Security Group,” he said.

Remulla’s comments came in response to inquiries about Duterte’s security following the PNP’s decision to reassign 75 officers who had been part of her detail.

Duterte earlier complained about the pullout of 75 police personnel from her security detail.

She criticized PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, saying the removal of her police security detail last week is “a clear case of political harassment.” She also appealed for the safety of her family.

The PNP defended itself from criticism over its decision, stressing that the reassigned personnel were needed to enhance police visibility in areas requiring additional security.
