South African nabbed with P35.8M shabu

ANTI-NARCOTICS operatives arrested a South African woman at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City for possession of 5.26 kilos of suspected shabu worth P35.8 million last Tuesday, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) reported yesterday

The suspect, who was not identified, was nabbed by personnel of the NAIA-Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group after arriving from the United Arab Emirates onboard flight EY 424 shortly before 6 p.m.

The group is composed of various law enforcement agencies, including PDEG and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

PDEG said the suspect was nabbed during a “controlled delivery operation” conducted at the International Arrival Area, NAIA Terminal 3.

“Confiscated and seized during the operation was one transparent plastic sachet weighing more or less 5,265 grams suspected to be shabu with standard drug price of P35,802,000,” PDEG said in a statement.

The suspect and the evidence are currently under the custody of PDEA.

PDEG director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta commended the personnel involved in the successful operation, saying: “The working relationship of all operating agencies is essential to the fulfillment of the anti-illegal drugs campaign of our government.”
