Taguig offers free health assessments to public school personnel

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Taguig is offering free annual physical examinations to more than 5,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public elementary and high schools in the city.

In a statement on Thursday, Taguig said the initiative, which is scheduled from July 1 to 31, aims to “promote preventive health care and detect potential health issues early.”

“Although the annual physical exam is not mandatory, the City of Taguig has chosen to offer it to both teaching and non-teaching staff,” Taguig said.

“This decision underscores the city’s commitment to the health and well-being of its educators,” it added.

The city government said a comprehensive range of free health assessments are being offered, such as physical examination, chest X-ray, vital signs monitoring, complete blood count or CBC and dental assessment.

Other medical assessments offered are visual acuity check, clinical breast exam, pap smear and other necessary diagnostic tests for early detection and treatment of any illness.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said the initiative demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the city government in supporting “those who shape the minds of the youth.”

“Ensuring the health and well-being of our educators is vital to the future of our community. By providing free annual physical examinations, we are investing in the heart of our education system – our teachers and staff,” Cayetano said.
