‘There would be no sacred cows’

PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday said there would be no sacred cows in the government, adding he already has a “very, very good idea” of whose heads will roll over the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.

The President, in a chance interview on the sidelines of the oath-taking of several media associations in Malacanang, said among those to be affected by the coming crackdown is the Bureau of Immigration (BI) but declined to say more details.

“That’s the last part of this, how far, how deep this goes. Isa lang ba ang tao na involved, o marami sila, o sindikato ito, that’s what we are doing. There are no sacred cows (That’s the last part of this, how far, how deep this goes. Was it only one person involved or many? Is it a syndicate? That’s what we are doing. There are no sacred cows),” he said.

Marcos said Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla is “almost finished with a very thorough investigation” on Guo’s case and will be able to “identify all of those who are involved in this.”

“Very, very good idea. I have a very good idea,” he added when asked if he already had an idea of whose heads will roll.

He assured the public the government would act quickly on Guo’s case.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian recently said the BI was aware of Guo’s escape but had kept the President in the dark.
