Tropical depression Gener to bring rain in Aurora, Ilocos, CAR

MANILA, Philippines— The low pressure area (LPA) spotted off Aurora has turned into a tropical depression named Gener, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

The center of «Gener» was estimated some 315 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

It had maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It was moving west northwestward at 10 kph.

«Gener» is already bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and Aurora.

Pagasa is also closely monitoring tropical storm Pulasan outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) which was over 2, 205 kms east of southeastern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to affect the northern portion of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique and Negros Occidental where monsoon rains would be likely.

The same weather system is bringing scattered or isolated rain showers in Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos), Caraga, Northern Mindanao, the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said.
