192 arrested in Quezon City drug stings this month

MANILA, Philippines — Police apprehended 192 suspects and seized illegal drugs valued at P7.55 million during anti-narcotics operations in Quezon City this month.

More than two kilos of marijuana and shabu were confiscated in 116 stings conducted from May 1 to 19, according to Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan.

Maranan said 118 suspected pushers and 74 drug users were arrested.

He lauded police officers for their efforts in weeding out drugs in the city, led by operatives of the Batasan police station 6 who arrested 24 suspects and confiscated P1.86 million worth of illegal drugs.

Maranan also thanked the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council for supporting the QCPD’s programs in eradicating drugs.

“We will continue this collaboration for a drug-free Quezon City,” he said.

Meanwhile, around 15 grams of shabu worth P102,000 were seized in Barangay Gulod on Monday night.

The drugs were recovered from 23-year-old Rick Rick de Leon, who was nabbed along Forest Hill Drive at around 8:15 p.m.

Charges of drug trafficking were filed against the suspect before the city prosecutor’s office.
